Helping sustain our local community and the wider region

What can you do?

The simple answer is, ‘Make sure your views are heard’. And soon!

We are lucky to have an active and responsive District Council, and they will make the final planning decision. So write to them, as well as the editors of the Eastern Daily Press and North Norfolk News. And make sure you don't forget the Sheringham Independent – our most local of local press!

But it is your North Norfolk District Councillors who are the most important people in this debate, apart from you of course, and they will want to hear your views. If you are unsure as to who your local Councillor is, simply click on this link and enter your postcode. Then, find your local Councillor’s address by clicking on this link.

This is a very important local issue with the overwhelming majority of our respondents to date in favour of the Greenhouse community project – so make sure your local councillor knows your opinions. A letter to the editors of the local press can also help draw attention to the needs and views of the townspeople.

Express your views clearly and explain why you support the Greenhouse community project. It might be our approach to complementing rather than competing with the existing town centre shops… or our low environmental impact buildings… or our winning combination of allotments, supermarket and Norfolk Food Academy… or the educational and self-improvement possibilities of the Norfolk Food Academy with its kitchen garden… or a combination of a number of these.

Then, come along to all the meetings and ‘update days’ you can. Your view is as important as anyone’s, and after the overwhelming support we had at our first two Exhibitions and Public Consultations, you know you will not be a ‘lone voice’. Indeed, it seems you will have the support and appreciation of the vast majority of Sheringham people.

And finally, for now, tell all your family and friends to look out for notices of our coming events.

This project is all about enhancing our community, so we need as many of you to demonstrate your support as we possibly can. Each time and every time, until we have won. Then we look forward to seeing you all on your new allotments, in the Supermarket and Café and in the Norfolk Food Academy.

The proposed Greenhouse community project would offer Sheringham shoppers a highly competitive, alternative destination for their ‘weekly’ shop, as well as a café, new allotments and The Norfolk Food Academy.
