Helping sustain our local community and the wider region

It is proposed to build the Greenhouse community project on land beside ‘Splash’, on the Weybourne Road, with a new access point off the Weybourne Road and parking for up to 135 cars.

A key consideration in siting the supermarket and Norfolk Food Academy in this area is, apart from giving existing High Street traders ‘room to breathe’, the opportunity for infinitely better traffic flow. Unlike the Tesco proposal, this is away from the roundabout at the bottom of Holway Road, the station (perhaps with its new level crossing gates), the top of the well-established shopping streets and main car parking. The new site entrance will certainly require careful planning to promote safety and ease of use, but would be far less likely to grind to a halt in busy times. A real concern for many with the proposed Tesco site.
The proposed Greenhouse community project would offer Sheringham shoppers a highly competitive, alternative destination for their ‘weekly’ shop, as well as a café, new allotments and The Norfolk Food Academy.
The Site
This land, currently used for allotments, will be replaced promptly by the Greenhouse community project proposers with immediately adjacent, properly prepared land. The new land would benefit not only all our current allotment holders, but also the very many people on the town’s allotment waiting list, the wider community and generations to come.
Additionally, Sheringham Cemetery would have new land made available to meet its long term needs for space.
